The Novi schools superintendent released a comment stating that, one H1N1 flu virus case
has been confirmed in the Novi School District. Parents and students were notified by a letter
on Thursday Sept. 24 2009. The infected student will not be allowed back in school until he
or she is well. Novi administrators said that schools will remain open. The school district is
following all of the proper recommendations of the Oakland County Health Department and
the Center for Disease Control. All of the classrooms that the student used on a daily basis
are being cleaned. Lunchroom tables will be cleaned between lunches and all bathrooms are
being disinfected nightly. Students are asked to continue to washing their hands and
covering their mouths when they sneeze. Parents should be extra cautious when they notice
cold symptoms on children. It is advised to keep children home from school and getting them
checked at the slightest sign of a flu. The community must work together to keep children
safe an healthy.
